Students understand the need for Edge and Neuromorphic AI — and gain hands-on experience with Perceptron and ANN fundamentals.

SNN fundamentals — what is a spike?
Biological neuron vs ANN vs SNN
Time-based, event-driven processing
Spiking neuron models: Integrate & Fire, Leaky Integrate & Fire
Spike encoding: rate coding and temporal coding
Event-based sensors overview (Audio, IMU, Radar)

Hands-On

Convert signals to spike trains
Visualize spike firing over time
Simple SNN simulation in Python
Explore sample datasets: Audio / IMU / Radar
Day 2 Outcome
Conceptual and practical foundation in SNNs — students are ready to move confidently toward Talamo pipelines and hardware deployment.

Theory

Innatera chip architecture — neuromorphic core, event-driven execution
Ultra-low power design principles
RISC-V + SNN co-processing — control logic vs inference
Memory and data flow
Sensor → SNN → decision pipeline

Hardware Hands-On

Board introduction — physical setup
Hardware setup and flashing
Running example firmware
Sensor data capture demo
Understanding logs and outputs
Day 3 Outcome
Students clearly understand what runs on hardware vs software — and have the board running in their hands.

Talamo SDK & Model Workflow
6 Hours

Theory

Talamo software stack and toolchain overview
Supported model types: SNN, CNN, ANN→SNN conversion
Constraints and optimization strategy
Quantization: PTQ and QAT
SoC simulator for pre-deployment testing

Hands-On

Install and configure Talamo SDK
Build an SNN using Pipeline API
Run a sample pipeline project
Load dataset and run inference on PC
Prepare model for embedded deployment
Day 4 Outcome
Students understand the Talamo workflow and are ready to prepare and deploy models on Innatera hardware.

End-to-End Project & Deployment
6 Hours

Project & Training

Project selection: Audio / IMU / Radar
Data preprocessing and feature extraction
Model training, conversion and quantization
Evaluation on system simulator

Hardware Deployment

Compile and flash model to Pulsar chip
Live sensor input — real-time inference
Measure: latency, accuracy, power behavior
Final demo and group discussion
Day 5 Outcome
Students complete a full Edge AI pipeline on real neuromorphic hardware — from raw data to live inference on a Pulsar chip.
